As host of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Chris Harrison has guided many a wayward romantic down the rose-strewn path to true love. Now he's doing it virtually with At First Sight, his new dating app launched online July 16 and teased last month. Prepare yourself for the home page: it features a 38-second intro/plea for dates from Christopher himself.
Developed by Chris and Bachelor/ette creator Mike Fleiss, At First Sight offers short video clips of wannabe daters describing who they are and what they’re looking for in a mate. It’s pretty much the screening process for getting on a reality TV show — minus the psych eval — but conveniently located on your various digital devices.
Vetting people online before actually getting to know them is just the way of the world, Chris said.
“What's the first thing you do when you meet somebody? You go find them on Twitter, you go find them on Instagram, you go find them on Facebook. You basically go search them out and you do your own profile on them.”
Guilty as charged.
Chris has so much faith in At First Sight, he’s going to use it himself. (That’s right: our boy’s back on the market and ready to mingle.)
“I’ve gotten addicted to it,” he said of At First Sight. “I find it as compelling as I find ‘The Bachelor’ and ‘The Bachelorette.’ I think people are gonna love it for the same reasons — you can’t take your eyes off of it.” Hmm, kind of like a trainwreck?
Still, all jaded I’m still single and always will be vibes aside it’s sort of sweet how seriously Saint Christopher takes his mission to make the world fall in love. Maybe he’ll be a pal and plan some group dates for us, too.
