The countdown is on for an announcement we've all been waiting for: Who will be the Bachelor 2014? But while we were still considering everyone from the current season of The Bachelorette, someone we all know and love had to take it in a different direction.
It was the question that sent shockwaves through Bachelor Nation. "Does anyone else think @jefholm should be the next bachelor?" Sean Lowe tweeted on June 24. "Just a thought."
And with that, the rumor mill started spinning so hard, it nearly fell off its axis. Add to that the recent Life & Style report claiming that Jef is in "talks" to sign on for the 2014 season, and we can see how people would start to get their gingham shorts in a twist.
But let’s talk truthfully. Since winning The Bachelorette Season 8, Jef Holm has inspired one of largest, most fiercely loyal female followings of any contestant — past or present. They’ve stuck with him despite his Oct. 2012 split with fiancée Emily Maynard and in the wake of numerous media reports since then linking Jef to several other 20-something blondes. In their eyes, he can do no wrong.
He’s got good looks, a smooth way of talking and a built-in audience ready to tune in. Which makes him the perfect candidate for The Bachelor Season 18, right?
Not so fast.
“Chances are, it’s not happening,” a show source tells Wetpaint Entertainment exclusively. “Producers aren’t convinced Jef is ready to settle down. They just don’t believe he’s looking for marriage right now. Love maybe, but not marriage, which is really what matters when it comes to being the Bachelor.”
That does all make sense, considering Jef recently said he is single, even while pictures of him with his rumored new lady friend are all over the Internet.
“Anything’s possible,” the source adds. “But barring some very unforeseen circumstances, this is just a rumor.”
Glad we got that settled!
