As we mentioned last week, Juan Pablo Galavis’s Season 18 of The Bachelor began filming last week, and the spoilers have begun rolling in. But while we haven’t found out the names of all the single (fingers crossed) ladies vying for JPG’s love, we do know that one of Reality Steve’s reported bachelorettes is indeed in the mix — and that she got one of the first 1-on-1 dates! (We say "one of" because there's still a secret LA-based date we haven't heard all about... yet.)
So, just who is the lucky lady who got to kick off the season with a little private Pabs time? That would be Kat Hurd, a 29-year-old blonde dancer from Scottsdale, Arizona . When she’s not competing for roses on The Bachelor, the University of Iowa grad is a medical device salesperson and brand new member of the Phoenix Suns dance squad. Although the NBA season kicks off on October 7, we doubt Kat will be back in time to kick and shout for the basketball team — at least, as long as she keeps JPG’s head turning.
The pair hit the friendly skies on a trip to Salt Lake City, Utah (as RS revealed last week), and their date sounds like the perfect time for a pair of athletes. The duo dressed up in neon colors and did a 5k fun run, then danced on stage and threw glow bracelets into the crowd, before heading off to do... we’re not sure what.
Why was this particular date chosen? No clue. Especially since Juan Pablo is shown in a video with a mic on stage, saying “So, Kat. I know you don’t like to run, and I hate running too…” Wait, what? Who makes someone run on a date? Were all the cliffs and tall buildings taken, or winds not strong enough to make it thrilling when they had to traverse down from terrifying heights?
How did it go? pretty well, considering Juan Pablo is shown giving our girl Kat a rose in another fan-captured video. She accepts, of course, and then the two hug and talk before leaving the venue. Do you think Kat is a front-runner? Although she didn't get the very first 1-on-1, she was in the main wave. Sarah Herron got the first rose from Sean Lowe, but was cut in Episode 6. Perhaps it’ll be more of a Desiree Hartsock thing, though, with first date getter Brooks Forester making it all the way to… Nevermind. Let’s just hope it goes well for Kat.
Do you think Kat and Juan Pablo make a good couple?
