Silly rabbits. All this time we've been assuming Juan Pablo Galavis would have 25 ladies to choose from on The Bachelor Season 18, which premieres January 6. And the whole time, we were thinking "How the heck will they pare down the field of, we assume, thousands of women who tried out to be with him?"

It's a long road to the finale, and we were already making an advent calendar to mark the 24 he has to dump before getting engaged to the final lady. But now it looks like we'll have to watch him break 26 hearts, since Reality Steve updated the count today, saying JPG will actually have 27 bachelorettes this season!

As Steve noted, this isn't the first time The Bachelor/ette has strayed from the usual 25 choices. On The Bachelorette Season 5, Jillian Harris had 30 guys to choose from, while Brad Womack had 30 women for his second try in Season 15 of The Bachelor — probably because producers were afraid he'd take the money and run again without picking anyone (ahem, why would they think that??). And last year Sean Lowe had 26 contestants, with Kacie Boguskie rounding out the pack after calling up TPTB and asking for a second chance with her pal Seanie.

Are you surprised that Juan Pablo has more than the normally allotted bunch of ladies showing for a tryout? Weigh in below.
