In the Bachelor 2014 premiere, airing January 6 at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC, Juan Pablo Galavis has 27 first impressions from a beautiful batch of babes. Making things awkward — you know, more so than just the fact that they’re meeting some dude on camera while trying to make themselves memorable with fake pregnancy and such — is a single rose. The First Impression Rose causes many a side-eye in the Bachelor Mansion, and Juan Pablo’s is no different.
It’s always the same thing: The Bachelor is sitting in a room full of ladies, when Chris Harrison walks in and sets a rose on the table and makes things weird. So, who does it go to? Sharleen Joynt, the woman ABC’s press release describes as an “elegant opera singer, who has come halfway around the world to meet Juan Pablo” and “is totally enchanting.”
We don’t know a ton about her, since she’s been largely radio silent since the show ended, but Reality Steve calls her “awesome,” explaining that while JPG is stoked to give her the rose, it’s pretty one sided. In fact, she says “our connection seemed a little forced” and that for her, “either I feel something or I don’t. Still a little early for me.”
But while she seemed pretty honest about her feelings, she still took the rose in the end, and even made it pretty far in the season. Would she have made it farther if she hadn’t eliminated herself after her 1-on-1 date with Juan Pablo in Miami? We’ll never know. But considering she’s tweeting, “I find great comfort in the fact that Bach has way more FB likes than The Bachelor #allisnotlost,” we have a feeling her first — and last — impression of the show wouldn’t deserve a rose…
