The Bachelor Season 18 fan favorite Renée Oteri got engaged to her fiancé Bracy just about a week ago, and we’re learning more about her romantic story every day. Last night, we caught our first glimpse of the lucky mystery man, when Renée posted a picture of her “forever” on Instagram. Next came the first glimpse of her ring, which designer Evan Duke describes as a “beautiful, simple, perfect creation.”
The ring came from Classic Creations in Diamonds & Gold, a Venice, Florida store that has been owned by the Duke family since 1981. Owners Pam and Evan Duke gave Wetpaint Entertainment exclusive insight on how Bracy selected the ring, and the funny story of picking it up — with Renée standing by!
“She told him a cigar ring would suffice, since she doesn’t really care about flashy things,” Evan tells Wetpaint about Bracy’s requests for his bride-to-be’s meaningful accessory. “But I told him he needed something a little more substantial than that, and he agreed. Since Renée likes very simple things, we went through a catalogue of simple mountings, and when he came to the contemporary micro-pavé style, he said, ‘That’s it! That’s the one.’”
The super sparkly ring gets its light-catching look from the dozens of tiny diamonds set atop one another. Evan says the 14K white gold band has a quarter carat of smaller diamonds, and a center round brilliant cut diamond, giving it a total weight of about a carat-and-a-half.
Renée’s first kiss (and now-fiancé!) has a sweet story to go with his great taste, and Pam and Evan are happy to tell it.
“Bracy came in and picked it up on February 20,” Evan remembers, “and they came in together. He was supposed to sneak down to see me, but ended up showing up with Renée on his arm, because she wanted to hang out with him and he couldn’t say no to that! So, we told her that he was coming down to pick out a chain for his mother, and I’m pretty sure she was none the wiser. Pam and I showed them a variety of necklace chains, and all the while, I had the jeweler setting the stone into the band while she was standing right next to him! We had family down from Seattle in the store, so they were distracting her with talk about where they should look for homes in town when they moved. When the ring was set, I just slid it over to Bracy and he tucked it in his pocket. I don't think she had a clue what was going on!”
The day after Wetpaint announced their engagement, Renée, Bracy, and Renée’s 8-year-old son Ben — who Bracy has known since Ben was born — along with their dog Chance, packed up and moved from Florida to Seattle.
The jewelers met the Bachelor 18 fan favorite about three months ago, though Pam’s cousin has been friends with her for several years. It didn’t take long for them to realize that Bracy should make a trip into the store to put a ring on it. Of Bracy, Evan says “he’s just a really good guy, just nice, soft-spoken, and easy to talk to.” Sounds like the perfect man to complement the laidback Renée!
