Juan Pablo Galavis may have swapped the typical on-bended-knee routine for a wink and a punch on the shoulder in The Bachelor’s Season 18 finale, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s not committed to making things work with Nikki Ferrell. The couple recently followed in the footsteps of Trista and Ryan Sutter and sought some helpful relationship tips from Marriage Boot Camp counselors Jim and Elizabeth Carroll. So what’s the prognosis, according to the experts?

Well, it wasn’t all bad. In fact, Jim tells Us Weekly that, even if Juan’s finale wasn’t great TV, it was a smart relationship move. “I think what he did was very wise in the fact that he said you know, 'I want to go through conflicts with this girl. I want to do some problem solving, I want to see basically what the ugly side is before I jump out there and tell somebody I love them and just get married.’”

But what about the female perspective on Juan Pabs? Well, Elizabeth shoots down the idea that Juan Pablo is a commitment phobe. In fact, his failure to put that Neil Lane bling on Nikki’s hand speaks to how much he honors the institution of marriage.

Now for the bad news. Juan Pablo and Nikki’s very different personalities may make their relationship a turbulent one. Juan Pablo “doesn’t like to compromise a whole lot,” and his strong personality puts him at risk of silencing his more submissive girlfriend. If Nikki “doesn’t have good boundaries," she could end up feeling oppressed in the relationship

Do you think Juan Pablo and Nikki are in it for the long haul?
