It takes balls to carry out a romance in the public eye. No, not those kind of balls, you sicko — we mean the sports kind. And while Juan Pablo Galavis and Nikki Ferrell have been doing a lot of sports-related activities lately, perhaps the coolest one has been getting to throw out the first pitch at a baseball game, as they did today.
It’s no joke: On April 1, the two of them — who are back to being together in Miami at the moment — took to the pitching mound at Marlins Park, and each of them threw out a ceremonial pitch before the Miami Marlins faced the Colorado Rockies. The couple appear to have been good luck, as the hometown heroes held on to win, 4-3.
Juan Pablo posted a photo to Instagram of the two of them at the game, wearing Marlins jerseys with their names on the backs. Aww! But Juan Pabs wasn’t ashamed to admit that his girlfriend may have shown him up in the pitching department. “Mi Catira had a better FIRST pitch at @marlins PARK than ME, she DEFINITELY play ball as a KID…” he captions the shot. And on Twitter, he quipped, “I STICK to soccer.”
We must say, we love that their dates continue to be tougher and tougher to top, considering that not many couples have probably thrown out a first pitch together before. Come to think of it, how did they even land such an honor? Maybe the fact that his job involves working with baseball teams means he could pull some strings to make this happen.
And let’s just hope that the next time we hear about them attending a baseball game, it’s because Juan Pablo is proposing to Nikki via the Jumbotron...
Are you surprised that they got to throw out the first pitch?
