Have you been avoiding The Bachelor Season 16? Maybe you wanted someone not named Ben Flajnik to hand out roses this year? Maybe you’re tired of all the breakups and manufactured drama and you’ve decided it’s just TOO guilty a guilty pleasure? Maybe you’re even seeing other shows on Monday nights?
We dig it. Your TV is single and ready to mingle. But you’re missing out. Here are five reasons it’s NOT TOO LATE to get into this season, which is just about reaching the halfway (and really good) point.
1. It’s getting serious — swoon alert!
It’s OK if you missed the early episodes since they focused a lot of time on girls who are already gone by now (miss you always, Jenna Burke!). Ben is only just now entering the “serious” phase where he actually starts to fall in love, and if you watch an episode, you will definitely form an opinion about which one of Ben’s feisty and very emotional group of bachelorettes he falls for. So here’s the latest: If you happen to like sweet, southern Kacie Boguskie, you will be in good company. If you dislike Courtney Robertson, you’ll have even more company. If you happen to want to defend Courtney, there are a few stalwarts out there, too. You’ll get sucked in and chances are you’ll want to vent to someone — especially if Courtney vs. Emily O’Brien isn’t resolved anytime soon. Vent to us. That’s why we’re here.
2. Ben isn’t that boring — but he *is* pretty naked
We were a little worried that Ben’s laid-back demeanor from The Bachelorette Season 7 would lead to a boring season. But Ben likes aggressive, forward women and — unlike Brad Womack — he’s not likely to immediately fall for the sweet reserved lady like Emily Maynard. So the deck is stacked with high-strung ladies who aren’t afraid to make him get naked on public television. Yeah, that’s about to go down in this Monday’s Episode 5. Courtney invites him to go skinny dipping and Ben just does what he’s told so the two of them drop trou for America. If you miss this coming episode, you’ll miss Barenaked Bachelor history. You’re going to end up with an opinion about Ben, but will it be less “What a player!” and more “He’s gettin played!”?
3. We’re about to travel the world, yall!
Ben has been hanging out in the USA for the past few weeks. We’re only just now heading off the mainland to Puerto Rico, then we go to Panama and Belize before the hometown dates, then it’s off to Switzerland where the final rose ceremony will be held at the base of the famous Matterhorn. It’s the most dramatic travelogue ever!
4. Chris Harrison says so
Yeah, things have been crazy so far this season, but good stuff is coming and Rosemaster Chris Harrison promises you’ll be satisfied with the overall result. “Fans will absolutely love this season,” Chris told Parade Magazine. “[I’m] very happy this is our tenth anniversary and I'm glad that we have a homerun to bring to the table. It is very good and it will definitely live up to the Bachelor name. Ben was great. Obviously, it really helps to have a great Bachelor, but the women are dynamic and fantastic and catty and emotional. At the same time, it's this great evolution of a man.” The Rosemaster never lies!
5. More than 8 million of us can’t be wrong!
And if we are wrong to watch this trainwreck, why not be wrong with us? Season 16 didn’t start with great ratings, but more people are tuning in so now is a good time to jump on the bandwagon. According to an E! Online report, Episode 4 averaged 8.2 million viewers overall. The show is picking up steam as Ben whittles his list of potential ex-fiancees down to single digits. With that many people watching the show, chances are you have a neighbor or co-worker who is also a (closet?) rose watcher. So if it was good for you once, it could be good for you again.
