Okay, so you love all things Bachelor and Bachelorette, but still have a few random unanswered questions burning deep within? Not to worry. From how much Bachelor stars get paid to how they can possibly remember All. Those. Names. – we have the answers!
How does the Bachelor remember the girls’ names?
When it comes to learning (and remembering) 25 names, The Bachelor takes a cue from an old-school learning tool: flashcards. When asked in an interview with MSN how he committed the girls’ names to memory so quickly, Ben Flajnik says he uses flashcards! Immediately after meeting the girls for the first time, he scrawls their names on cards and “I practice, practice, practice. But there are multiple instances where I screw up names. It is mortifying when it happens, but the girls are good sports about it.”
Editing tricks help, too. Ali Fedotowsky told Ladies Home Journal that each Bachelor actually only needs to remember a handful of names at a time. “What happens is the bachelor comes out and names four or five girls, and then he goes out of the room and comes back naming four or five more girls — this happens until all of the roses are given out.” We’re thinking this technique helps minimize the you-called-me-who? moments. Though we’d love to see those, too!
How much does the Bachelor pay?
Just like anything salary-related, this is a complex topic with equally murky answers. Exact numbers are hard to come by, but the general answer seems to be 6 figures and up. Reality Steve reports that the “standard” is $100K per season for a Bachelor or Bachelorette, with, of course, lots of potential to earn from appearances and endorsements afterward.
Not so for contestants, however — who are not compensated with any cash, only the thrill of being publicly wooed and/or dumped on national TV. And that’s its own reward, right?

Are the Bachelor roses real?
People may argue that reality TV seems fake, but, you guys, those roses are REAL. Wetpaint confirmed with Samantha Levey from Bachelor 16 that the long-stemmed red roses given out on the series are in fact the real deal. Mystery solved!
When is the next Bachelor announced?
While we don’t know for sure, we can extrapolate based on what ABC’s done int he past. Typically, the next Bachelor is announced during the Bachelor Pad finale. Bachelor Pad 3 has a confirmed official premiere date of July 23rd, 2012. If the season runs the standard 6 episodes, it would put the announcement sometime in late August.
How long does the Bachelor film?
Get ready for a shocker. Based on the typical filming schedule outline, Bachelor only films for 6 weeks. Yep, 6 weeks. That’s an astonishingly short amount of time for all the dating, dumping, and hooking up that needs to happen. Not mention, you know, making a lifetime commitment. Bachelor Nation, we salute your earnest (and vigorous) stabs at romance in such a short period of time!
