Nicki Sterling made a good impression early on The Bachelor Season 16 as the “nicely bubbly” divorcée from Texas. She's only had one individual date with Ben Flajnik but she's already taken him to meet her family on the Episode 8 hometown dates.

Nicki’s maiden name is Felix. As she mentioned on the show, she met her ex, Michael Sterling, when she was 18 and instantly fell in love. She got married in June 2007, when she was 21, and then something just changed. To her, the excitement was gone, and they split up. 

Who is Nicki’s ex? Unfortunately, at this point the most prominent news out there about Michael is the National Enquirer’s Feb. 9 report that he was arrested by Waco, Texas, police for driving while intoxicated. The arrest was made in June 2010 — just weeks after he and Nicki officially split. According to the Enquirer, he pleaded guilty four months later and was sentenced to 120 days in jail and given a $2,000 fine. The prison sentence was suspended and he was placed on conditional probation for 12 months. However, the report says, his probation was later revoked after he consumed alcohol and did not com­plete community service. 

Michael was contacted by the Enquirer and said, “I am aware there is a warrant out for my arrest and I am going to take steps to correct it.” They must’ve also asked about The Bachelor star because he’s also quoted saying, “The reason for our divorce is a private matter between Nicki and me.”
