It might be Ben Flajnik’s season of The Bachelor, but we feel like we know more about his Season 16 ladies (and their neuroses) than the winemaker himself. We can, however, pick up little interesting tidbits about The Bachelor by following him on Twitter, where he spends a lot of time talking about his Envolve Winery biz and his dog Scotch, while also thanking fans for watching his dramatic journey through
the eighth circle of hell “the process” to find His Chosen One.
Here are five other interesting things we learned about Ben thanks to @BenFlajnik:
1. He likes a good wristband
Ben tweeted a pic of himself wearing a yellow wristband, adding, “@Core_Synergy @vmanhudson always wear on morning runs woo woo.” According to Core Synergy, the bands are "Titanium infused silicone wristbands made by combat athletes for the world's greatest athletes including Michael Vick, Dez Bryant, Maurkice Pouncey, and AJ Hawk." Oh, and the world’s greatest wine-making Bachelors, too!
2. He has a favorite local restaurant
He won’t share any San Francisco hidden gems — although that speakeasy we saw in Episode 3 certainly counts for one — but when asked about his favorite SF restaurant, he replied “I am loving @Marlowesf right now.” Learn more about the “neighborhood bistro” here at Marlowe’s website.
3. He has a local bromance
Ben is a major sports fan who tweets about soccer, football, baseball, and anything else related to that world. He loves the San Francisco Giants and 49ers and he seems to be buddies with former Giants outfielder Cody Ross, aka "Ross the Boss.” Local sportscasters joked recently about their bromance, even suggesting Cody make a cameo on The Bachelor. "Who knows?” Ben replied, “better idea. new show called, 'the bach and the bat.'" Cody replied, "The Bach and The Boss, get it right Ben." Watch your back, Constantine Tzortzis! There’s a new BFF in town...
4. He’s got a fan in Snooki... not so much in Justin Bieber?
Ben follows a few celebs on Twitter, including Val Kilmer, Jim Carrey, Sofia Vergara, Joan Rivers, Minka Kelly, Hope Solo, Amy Poehler and Justin Bieber. He doesn’t seem to be following Snooki yet, but he tweeted some thanks to her when she wrote on January 3, “Watching the bachelor ! Talk about crazy pants!!” Ben and The Biebs were both guests at Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve and Ben attempted to reach out to the teen star on December 30. "Yo @justinbieber see you saturday. can i get a high five? awesome, thanks." He later followed up by saying he did not get the high five. Another public rejection – awkward!
5. Shawntel Newton was one of his first follows
As the sun now stands, Ben follows 164 people/places/things. Some of the newest follows are @DavidGray_Music, source of his season’s theme song, “This Year’s Love,” and his brother-from-another-mother, singer@joshgroban. But the first five on his list are his business, @envolvewines, his Bachelorette 7 buddies, @contzor (Constantine) and @WilliamFHolman, then Bachelor creator @fleissmeister (Mike Fleiss), followed by none other than @Shawntel_Newton herself. She’s on there before @SFGiants. Just sayin’.
