The Bachelor

If anyone knows all about women — for better or worse — it’s Bachelor Bob Guiney, who is returning to his native Michigan on November 11 for The Saginaw News’ All Abut Women Expo.

In case you forgot, Bob was dumped by Trista Rehn (now Sutter) on the very first season of The Bachelorette. He was so popular, show producers asked him to return as the Bachelor for Season 4, making him the first “repeat” Bachelor. Things didn’t go that well for him, unfortunately. His relationship with chosen one Estella Gardinier didn’t last. And in 2004, he married All My Children actress Rebecca Budig — but they divorced in 2010.

“Rebecca and I are still very close and we still love and care and are protective of each other,” Bob told The Saginaw News. “It was funny how the people who really know us and love us had nothing to say, but still, the tabloids found plenty of others with all sorts of comments. It’s to be expected in this business. It comes with the territory.”

Bob now hosts HGTV’s Showhouse Showdown and performs in his bands Fat Amy and The Band From TV. His time on The Bachelor has led to many charity functions and gigs like the one taking him back to Michigan.

“It’s a good problem to have,” Bob said of his busy life. “I learned how to best handle it from John Schneider, who was the original Bo Duke on television. We had dinner one time and people were going, ‘Hey, Bachelor Bob,’ and ‘Hey, Bo Duke.’ He told me, ‘I don’t care what they call me as long as they keep calling me.’ Embrace it, he said. And I’m so thankful for that.”
