The night before Bachelor Sean Lowe proposed in Thailand, he wasn’t yet sure who he should choose. “I can see a long happy life with Catherine [Giudici], I can see a long happy life with Lindsay [Yenter] as well, they both possess all of the qualities I would want in a wife.” During the last leg of Season 17, Sean was unabashedly open about his strong feelings for both of the remaining women.
“I truly feel like I’m with my best friend when I’m with Catherine, but at the same time, Lindsay and I have this spark that’s grown into this massive flame. I’ve been ready for this day for years,” Sean tells the camera as he dons his suit before proposing. “We’ve been through so much so far, and I honestly think I could marry both of these women and have healthy successful marriages.”
Then, suddenly, his feelings are clear when he wakes with the sun. “I woke up this morning and I just knew that there was a woman I couldn’t stand to live without.” Cue Neil Lane, carrying his usual cachet of Bachelor baubles. “I want this ring to say everything.” Sean tells the jeweler.
Sean ties his tie and gushes feelings. “At this moment, I feel full of joy and happiness. I’m about to dedicate my life to this wonderful woman, and I can’t wait to start our lives together.”
“I’ve loved hanging out with you and being around you, but I didn’t know the depth I would find. Everytime I’m with you, I’m so amazed,” a contrite Sean tells Lindsay. “This is the toughest thing I’ve ever had to do. I want to give you my heart so bad, by my heart’s taking me somewhere else, and as of yesterday, I didn’t know what I was doing, I’ve been so confused and I’ve been searching for clarity and praying for clarity. I have to say goodbye to you, and it’s by far the hardest thing I’ve ever had to do, and I love you, that’s the hardest part. I love you, I know I do.”
Lindsay sobs into her hands, tells Sean “it’s okay,” adding, I’m happy for you, I’m happy that you found love, but I honestly can’t imagine my life without you, and that’s something that I’m going to have to figure out.”
Chris Harrison then walks up to Sean with a letter from Catherine. Sean, reeling from saying goodbye to Lindsay, reads Catherine’s letter, which reads (in part): “Although neither of us are perfect, we are perfect together. I was always nervous about being a wife, but after meeting you and feeling as strongly as I do, I couldn’t picture myself being anyone other than your wife. All I want to do is move to Dallas and become part of the wonderful family you have. You have my heart. Love always, Catherine.”
Chris sends Catherine across the bridge to meet her future husband, who is waiting for her with tears in his eyes. “This has been such a crazy journey, and there have been so many unexpected moments with you. You never cease to amaze me, you never do. I think the world of you, and I miss you, every time we have to say goodbye I miss you. I don’t want to say goodbye anymore. Catherine, I want to spend the rest of my life telling you I love you and I want to make you feel like the most beautiful woman in the world.” She sighs deeply, and he says, “Catherine will you marry me?” She says yes, then gets adorable nerdy, squealing, “Oh my gosh, is this for real?”
Then they got on an elephant, Sean says, “Okay, let’s peace,” and they ride off into the sunset. We hope all of our future husbands are taking notes.
