It’s the final Bachelor frontier — same-sex shenanigans. To date, no two women or men have shown open romantic interest in each other on the show. But that streak ends with Ben Flajnik’s beauties on The Bachelor Season 16.

The cover of the January 2 issue of In Touch Weekly has a little photo of Ben in the bottom corner with a button teasing “Ben’s gay scandal!” Inside the issue, an insider is quoted saying, “the show’s first-ever self-proclaimed bisexual makes waves when she makes a move on one of the other women."

(Krisily Kennedy came out a few months ago as bisexual, but that was long after she was Charlie O’Connell’s runner-up on The Bachelor Season 7 and swooned over David Good on Bachelor Pad Season 1.)

In Touch is talking about dental consultant Monica Spannbauer (previously Monica Ekberg, per Starcasm), who takes a special interest in VIP cocktail waitress Blakeley Shea.

To quote the blurb in Monica’s mini In Touch bio: “Monica seems to have a talent for creating controversy. In the first episode alone, she's seen fighting, talking smack and, in a Bachelor first, putting the moves on one of the other Bachelorettes."

Hey, they had to find a way to top Fang Girl from Brad Womack’s season!

Do you think Monica just signed on to stir up drama? A new study came out saying conservatives tend to watch shows like The Bachelor — and the idea of two women flirting doesn’t really fit along conservative lines. Will this turn off the core audience? Only time will tell!
