Spoiler alert: This interview includes intel on what Reality Steve says will happen on The Bachelor Season 15 finale. You've been warned!
Father knows best. In the case of Chantal O'Brien, that father is Mike O'Brien, a former Seattle Seahawks defensive back who owns the O'Brien Auto Group with dealerships across the Seattle area. Papa O'Brien told his divorced daughter Chantal, 28, to audition for The Bachelor about six months ago. According to Mike's interview with a local paper, the Bremerton Patriot, Chantal auditioned against 200 or 300 aspiring bachelorettes in the greater Seattle area and did not make the cut for Season 15. But she did make the show when she beat a couple thousand women in Los Angeles.
Spoiler King Reality Steve originally predicted Chantal to be the winner of Brad Womack's second season as the Bachelor, then changed his tune and said Brad actually chose Emily Maynard over Chantal.
Mike tells the paper he wasn't expecting a proposal for his daughter. "She was just doing it more for laughs and having a good time," he says. "I don't know that she had any expectations. She needed to move on, so it was a good time for her to try for something else."
In terms of the slap heard 'round the world, Chantal's parents were surprised by that too. "We were shocked by that, but that’s Chantal," Mike said. He can't say anything about how far she makes it on the show. "I think she had a blast,” is all Mike will say. "I think she had a great time."
