Here's the bad news, Arie Luyendyk, Jr. fans: the Bachelorette runner-up will not return as the Bachelor next season, as many had hoped. But the good news is he's focusing on his oh-so-cool career as a racecar driver instead.

Last night, August 31, Arie tweeted out this press release announcing the decision.

"The Bachelorette was an amazing experience but I will not continue with The Bachelor," Arie announced in the release. "Ultimately I realized my heart is tied to the race track and my career is my main priority. I'm looking forward to getting back on the track."

And don't worry, Arie's not eschewing the idea of returning to entertainment altogether. The announcement explains that he "will continue to consider entertainment offers that will allow him consistency with his training and team schedules."

An hour after making the announcement, Arie tweeted, "Lots of encouraging remarks. Thank you for all the love, the future looks bright and you will see more of me soon enough. #LoveMyFans."

We're definitely excited to watch Arie rock it on the race track. And even though it's not happening this season, we continue to hope that one day he'll be able to fit The Bachelor into his busy schedule.

Good luck, Arie!
