Wondering how newest Bachelorette and “America’s Sweetheart" Emily Maynard’s premiere Monday night compared to last season’s Bachelorette Ashley Hebert’s, or even the most recent Bachelor Ben Flajnik’s in the ratings department?

Well, it’s probably no surprise that America turned out more for Emily’s premiere (8.2 M) than they did for Ben’s (7.7M) — after all, Emily does have way better hair. But you might be surprised to learn that Ashley’s Bachelorette premiere pretty much walloped Emily’s, with nearly 3 million more viewers. That’s 36% more — a significant difference.

Some of that difference could be attributed to the funky belated 9:30 start time this year. Who knows how many people tuned in at the show’s usual earlier timeslot, only to get distracted before the premiere began? We also can’t underestimate America’s collective cynicism. Emily Maynard struck out once with Brad Womack, so maybe they’re reluctant to invest in her again?

Either way, we think Emily has a strapping crop of dashing dudes this year and we can’t wait to see the season unfold. Let’s do this!
