Like many Bachelor fans around the country, we popped open a bottle of bubbly to celebrate when we heard the good news that Sonoma winemaker Ben Flajnik is reportedly going to be the next Bachelor.
We’re not the only ones who are happy to hear the news: Bachelorette and Bachelor Pad star Jesse Kovacs is excited that Ben F. may very well be the new man, even if he did have to find out the good news from Wetpaint Entertainment!
“I called him yesterday and he didn’t say anything!” Jesse told us when we caught up with him for a chat. “I think he’d be great! The very first episode of the Bachelorette with Ashley [Hebert] I said that he was my guy to win the whole thing, and now he’s in running to be the next Bachelor.
What makes the 28-year-old from Northern Californian such a great catch? “I like his personality because he’s a real down to earth and is a genuine human being. He’s not like some of the people who say and do what they think you want to hear,” explained Jesse.
Some people like Kovacs’ old rival on Jillian Harris’ season of the Bachelorette? “Ben comes up with his own material and is compelling to watch, Jake [Pavelka] never made up his own stuff,” said Kovacs, who has made no secret about the fact that him and Pavelka don’t get along.
“Ben’s not going to let the producer dictate what has going to say and is a relatively a drama free guy.”
As well as making great TV, Jesse thinks that Ben will choose wisely from the pool of beautiful women paraded out in front of him. “I can see him picking someone who is super confident and genuine and who isn’t hiding anything.”
Ben’s outgoing personality is just what the show needs after a recent slump for both the Bachelor and the Bachelorette. “If you pick quality individuals who have personality then that makes the show. If you have someone who is confused about themselves and they don’t know how to act like Ashley and Brad it just doesn’t work.
“America wants to latch onto a certain character and root for them to the end, we don’t need their insecurities,” he explained.
Of course, while Ben is under strict orders from ABC to keep quiet about the new gig, he was happy to chat to Kovacs about their favorite subject — wine. Jesse, who runs a winery in Central California with his brother, is opening a new wine-tasting room/boutique with his girlfriend Summer Andersen called Blended Industries in La Jolla, California, and invited Ben to donate some of his own vino for the opening party on September 10.
“I talked to him yesterday and he said he’d try to come down for it.”
