There’s no reason we can’t have two Season 16 Bachelors, even if only one gets to meet the ladies in person. Ben Flajnik was ABC’s choice to hand out roses, and we’ll start watching the winemaker’s journey in January — but what about Bachelor Pad 2 winner Michael Stagliano? Why can’t he hold his own parallel season of The Bachelor, naming the bachelorette he would’ve given the first impression rose, and subsequent roses each week, along with the lady he would’ve picked in the end?

“It could be good potential practice if I ever make it on there some day,” Michael tells Wetpaint Entertainment.

There was talk, at one point, that maybe Michael would get the Bachelor gig, after fans fell in love with him — and his ex-fiancee Holly Durst fell out of love with him — on BP2. So what was his reaction when he head that The Bachelorette Season 7 runner-up was named the Bachelor instead?

“I’m not embarrassed to say I would’ve loved to do it,” he tells us. “I would’ve really loved it. So, yeah, I was a small amount disappointed that it wasn’t me. But Ben’s also just The Man and he’s a really good guy and really deserves love. I think really deserves the experience of The Bachelor and I think it’ll be a really good one. I didn’t love him on Ashley’s season — I was more of a JP guy myself — but then I met him at the finale of Bachelor Pad and he was, like, awesome, and incredibly funny, and witty, and charming. I don’t think there’s been a Bachelor like him yet. I think he’ll be very unique and very capable — and I’m really glad, honestly. I’m really glad that it’s him. He’ll be great.”
