As fans of Ben Flajnik rejoice this week over the rumors that the Sonoma winemaker will be the next Bachelor, Wetpaint Entertainment got reaction to the news from one of our favorite Bachelor alums. (Note: ABC has yet to confirm that Ben will be the Season 8 star.)
While he failed to win the heart of Ashley Hebert, will the Season 7 runner-up have better luck now he’s the man of the show with 25 beautiful women to choose from?
Bachelor Pad Season 1 winner Natalie Getz offered her insight into the casting and what 28-year-old Ben is going to face as the Bachelor.
“I heard awhile ago that Ben F. was going to be the next Bachelor and now that they’ve been spotted filming the home town episodes it must be true!” Natalie told Wetpaint Entertainment in an exclusive interview, adding that hottie Ben has been under close watch by ABC since they decided that he was the ‘one’ for the upcoming season.
“It’s like that movie The Truman Show once they decide who they want to be the next Bachelor,” explains Natalie, who is still very close with all her old cast mates as well as the producers of the show. “They control his life, even if he doesn’t know it, and his conversation — even if he doesn’t know it,” she revealed. “I’m sure he’ll be great on the show, but I hope that he’s made the right decision. We’d rather him to be happy than for ABC to make good drama.”
As always, Ben wasn’t the only name being bounced around by producers, who were weighing up his charming single man qualities against those of other Ashley Hebert castoffs.
“They had talked to Ames [Brown], Ryan Park, and Ben F.,” said Getz.
“I thought that Ames would have been great because he has such a strange mind, which is unusual for reality TV. He is so smart and thinks in such a unique way that will make him successful in life, and makes great television!”
Even though ABC has reportedly made their pick, as we learned with Chris Lambton last year, it may not be a done deal yet.
“If Ben backs out then Michael Stagliano would be great,” revealed his good pal, Natalie. “They were wooing Chris L. like this last year and he said he didn’t want to do it, and then he met Peyton [Wright] and is so happy — it’s great when things work out like that! He rejected being the Bachelor and still found the love of his life.”
