Holly Durst knows a thing or two about Bachelor backlash; the 28-year-old children’s book author famously won Bachelor Pad 2 with her ex-fiancé, Michael Stagliano, as her teammate — and then got engaged to cast mate Blake Julian in the finale. Speaking exclusively with Wetpaint Entertainment, Holly says she has major empathy for Bachelor Ben Flajnik and his No. 1 lady (and now-fiancée), Courtney Robertson.
“It hurts to have so much negativity” thrown at you, Holly confides. She and Blake definitely felt the backlash after their engagement was announced on Bachelor Pad 2 —and most of it was directed at Holly, who received a flurry of hate mail. “People didn’t want me to be with Blake. They sent me the meanest messages about how I was a terrible person,” Holly says.
Courtney has been similarly maligned on The Bachelor Season 16, but Holly argues it’s Ben’s happiness that matters most, not what everyone else thinks of Courtney. “I can see a difference in Ben when he’s with her,” Holly says of Ben and his bride-to-be. “All praise to Ben for following his heart.”
