For a guy that jumps from show to show like a TV chain-smoker, Jake Pavelka has a surprising take on "celebrity" life.
The upcoming star of Famous Food and Bachelor Pad Season 2 told Zap2It he wants to find love but — despite some tabloid reports — he never begged to pull a Brad Womack and return for a second shot as The Bachelor.
He said it took him three months to decide to do Bachelor Pad and it might take him longer if the show asked him to be The Bachelor again. (Tip to show: Don't.) Jake wants to have a wife and kids and believes it can be done on The Bachelor — despite his ugly flameout with Season 14 winner (and BP2 co-star) Vienna Girardi.
"The only trouble is that the world has gone celebrity-crazy," Jake told Zap2It. "If you do anything in Hollywood whatsoever, in no matter what capacity, you're considered a celebrity. When you go through that journey with The Bachelor, it 'celebrifies' the relationship, and you don't yet have that foundation to stand on ... so it puts the relationship under many different strains."
Jake says "media and gossip and blogs and haters" are some of the challenges, but if celebrity is an issue for him it's unclear why he would go from The Bachelor to Dancing With the Stars — which is meant to star celebrities as its main premise — never mind two new reality TV shows, one with “Famous” right in the title.
Jake's time on the Famous Food crazy train starts this Sunday, July 10, on VH1. Jake said the series "shows my business side, a little bit more of my analytical and technical side.” He added, “I meshed best with the Three 6 Mafia guys, DJ Paul, and Juicy 'J,' and also Vincent Pastore of The Sopranos. I can work with anybody, as long as they're being honest. Everybody has their vices, though, and everybody's nuts on that show. It was a pretty good experience, but production lasted a while. The good thing with Bachelor Pad is that it moved along. That was a matter of weeks, whereas with Famous Food, we were shooting quite a bit longer."
Based on the previews we’ve seen, Jake seems like the only sane person involved with Famous Food. And that’s just frightening enough to kinda make us want to watch.
