We’re still trying to catch our breath after the emotional elimination on The Bachelor Season 17 when Sean Lowe decided to keep Catherine Giudici and send Desiree Hartsock home. The two girls were left standing, waiting to find out which of them would get the final rose after each girl had some sibling troubles during hometown dates.

In Seattle, Catherine’s sisters brought up her flaws: messiness, strongheadedness... Okay, so flaws isn’t exactly the right word, but whatever they said seemed to throw Sean a little off guard. However, Catherine’s sweet mom and grandmother put him at ease, even while her mom requested that Sean not “lead her on” if he wasn’t going to pick her. Side note: We would like C’s mom to go talk to all of our exes, like, yesterday.

In SoCal, Sean learned the true meaning of family troubles, when Desiree’s hand tattoo-sportin’ bro got all aggro on him. Besides calling Sean a “playboy” and telling him he didn’t believe his feelings for Des, Nathaniel Hartsock also continued to show Sean mad attitude at the dinner table, throwing shade and being so rude that Sean later told Chris Harrison he definitely wouldn’t want to be in a family with him. No joke, dude.

In the end, it was Des who was sent home, despite her mid-rose ceremony apology for her family’s behavior. Do you think Sean made the right choice? Even after he gave the final rose to Catherine, he was outwardly open about saying he wasn’t sure he had made the right call. Was he being sincere? Give us your best argument for why Catherine or Desiree deserved to stay more.
