Okay, so maybe Dancing with the Stars bad boy Maksim Chmerkovskiy didn't turn down ABC's version of The Bachelor before saying yes to the Ukraine version.

A DWTS source tells Entertainment Weekly that ABC did meet with Maks, but never offered him the gig. According to the EW story, not only would The Bachelor's shooting schedule conflict with DWTS' return in March, The Bachelor hasn't had much success with "high concept" guys (the prince, the British guy, the football player), and producers weren't sure viewers would buy notorious playboy Maks as going on the show for the right reasons.

Maks was briefly engaged to fellow DWTS pro Karina Smirnoff and has been linked to past partners Erin Andrews, Willa Ford, and Mel B.

Maks seems to be under the impression that he did dump ABC, explaining on on his website why he went for Ukraine over the U.S. "First thing first. I AM doing the Ukrainian version of our 'Bachelor'. The fact that I've turned down the American version has NOTHING to do with my 'dislike' of American women..."

Either way, we ended up with Brad Womack... again!
