Courtney Robertson may have won Ben Flajnik’s heart on The Bachelor, but Emily O’Brien charmed viewers with her infamous rapping, hilarious facial expressions, and intellectual germaphobe mind. Emily’s fierce “After the Final Rose” appearance prompted many in Bachelor Nation to urge ABC to cast her as the next Bachelorette (after Emily Maynard, natch). At the very least, we were majorly hoping Em will be cast on Bachelor Pad 3 — but a source tells us Emily isn't interested in jumping back into the big reality TV ocean anytime soon, if ever.
So, what’s the bubbly blonde from North Carolina been up to post-Ben Flajnik? We’ve got two words for you: Mike Burns. Emily was recently spotted cozying up to Bachelorette Season 7 castoff at his 30th birthday party in San Diego. But Mike and Emily’s California canoodling was cut short for one very good reason — because Emily had to return to the University of North Carolina a Chapel Hill, where she's studying for her PhD.
In fact, in early March 2012, Emily completed one of the final steps necessary towards becoming Dr. Emily O’Brien — she defended her dissertation! Emily’s studies at UNC-Chapel Hill are concentrated mainly in heart disease and stroke. If you have time, why not read Emily's research article, "Stroke Mortality, Clinical Presentation and Day of Arrival: The Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities (ARIC) Study," published last year?
We can’t wait to see what this brainy Bachelorette does next!
