1. Trista and Ryan’s wedding
This is it. The gold standard. The real reason hope still exists in this wonderfully silly franchise. Trista Rehn was there back in March 2002 when Alex Michel was the first Bachelor. He didn’t pick her in the finale, but ABC did pick her to be the first Bachelorette — and she made a good choice in picking hot fireman-poet-triathlete Ryan Sutter. They were married in a televised $4 million wedding on December 6, 2003. More than eight years later, Trista and Ryan are still together and have two children in Colorado where Ryan is still working for the Fire Department. It’s possible that if Trista held her season today she and Ryan would never have lasted this long. Bachelor/ette times were different back in 2003 — less attention, fewer tabloid/online stories, no spoilers. The pressure was less intense. Or it’s possible that love really conquers all and if you are truly in it for “the right reasons” and find “The One,” your “journey” through “the process” can indeed have a happy ending.
