We're still recovering from the beyond tragic moment when Michael Garofola was rejected from Desiree Hartsock's The Bachelorette Season 9 love nest. It seemed pretty obvious to viewers that Michael had booked a one-way ticket out of paradise, but apparently boyfriend was shocked. SHOCKED!

"Although I think everyone who watched the episode might think, 'Well, obviously Michael's going home', I certainly did not," Michael mused to media outlets during his exit interview. "When Zak's name was called and not mine, I did feel like my heart exploded in my chest. I did feel like I was shot with a harpoon in my heart."

Wow, how... graphic. And vaguely disturbing. Clearly, Michael is still floored by his unexpected dismissal, but now that he's seen Des' relationships blossom with other men, he says it's obvious that their connection just wasn't up to snuff. "It's clear to me that her relationships and feelings were further along with the other guys," he explained. "I had no idea how behind I was until this Monday when I watched the episode."

Despite admitting that his relationship with Des wasn't all that, Michael insists that they shared a special sumthin' sumthin'. "Watching the show makes it look like I'm just talking to her and she's just kind of guessing and whatever, but she also shared some things," he said, adding "But now I see the way she is with Brooks and Chris, for example, I can tell that she obviously was not as into me as she was those two other guys."

It's okay, Michael. At least your mom loves you.

The defense rests its case.
