Desiree Hartsock had quite the bout of the sads on The Bachelorette Season 9 Finale Part 1, and it was all thanks to a mix of heightened emotions and Brooks Forester’s departure. But even though it was so hard to watch that we barely want to turn on our televisions ever again, Jillian Harris has a different opinion on the whole thing.

In fact, although the Season 5 Bachelorette got a proposal from Ed Swiderski in her finale, she doesn’t think it makes a whole lot of sense. And in Desiree’s case, she’s actually glad that Brooks walked away and left Desiree in tears.

But before you start writing letters to the Canadian cutie about her harsh reactions, just know that she says it all out of love. In her Parade.com Bachelorette blog, Jilly explains where she’s coming from on the whole Teargate 2013:

Broken hearts are awesome. Well, not really, and especially not at the time, but speaking from experience in circumstances like last night’s episode of The Bachelorette, a broken heart is just about the best thing that can happen to someone. Am I crazy? Maybe a little, but here is the thing: True love (true, true love ) is a two-way street. Sometimes our hearts get so infatuated with someone or something that we don’t even care if it’s reciprocated. We just want that person, and what’s even more deranged is that the more they don’t want us, the more we want them. Our heart is sometimes a confused little brat.”
