If you think Desiree Hartsock’s Season 9 Finale of The Bachelorette is going to be rough, just wait for the “After the Final Rose.” Because nothing makes us feel more uncomfortable than the prospect of watching a taped version of Des having to tell Chris Siegfried and Drew Kenney she’s actually in love with Brooks Forester, but that since he left, one of ‘em might do — you know, other than watching her have to do the same thing live.

Yikes.

Traditionally, the “After the Final Rose” special happens... well, after the final rose, but producers have been playing fast and loose with this season’s formatting. First, they moved the “Men Tell All” special up a week in the season, so that the last two episodes would be (understandably) aired back-to-back. Second, they showed Des saying how much she loves Brooks both in her talks with Chris Harrison, and to Brooks’ actual face, which we’ve never seen before The Bachelorette 2013.

What does all this mean? Well, the synopsis says that Des and “worst wingman everChris Harrison chat live about “her three final bachelors from this season.” Maybe it’s nothing, but from the way they’ve presented it, it sounds like the ATFR might not be so after the episode — perhaps ABC will show her talk in phases with Chris, and maybe even have her bring out the dudes as she dumps them on TV?

As awkward as that would be, we’d love to see something different. But no matter how they format it, no matter how the season ends, it will be fascinating to see what Brooks, Chris, and Drew will have to say since all three of them will be appearing on the special.

The finale itself is enough to make all of our anticipation hairs stand on end. Mike Fleiss called it “the weirdest ending we’ve ever had,” saying that he “[doesn’t] know that Desiree is happy with it, or the guys are happy with it, but it sure is interesting to watch.” And Chris Harrison says that “nobody will come out of this unscathed.” Color us on high alert.

What do you want to see when the final rose goes out — or doesn’t? And what do you want to see after?
