Look, we're thrilled that Desiree Hartsock and Chris "Poetic Minstrel" Seigfried are engaged to get married, but let's be real. The Bachelorette doesn't exactly have the best track record when it comes to couples staying together. In fact, only a few Bachelorettes have made things work with their finalists! (Though their track record is miles better than the Bachelors...)

Considering that Desiree chose Chris literally days after declaring her undying love for Brooks Forester, Bachelor Nation has good reason to believe they might not last. Then again, Des and Chris seem convinced that they're an exception to the Bachelorette Breakup Rule.

"From the first time we were alone together, it was just easy," Des told People when asked what made her so sure she and Chris would stay together.

"If there was a silent moment, it wasn't awkward," Chris added. "Which is weird because I'm usually pretty awkward!"

Please, Chris. There's nothing at all awkward about the fact that you can't get through a conversation without breaking into limericks. Nor is there anything awkward about the fact that you presented Desiree with a framed poem (which we're pretty sure was written with blood) during The Bachelorette's After the Final Rose special, and read said poem aloud to a room of strangers. Not awkward at all.

In other news, we're thrilled that Chris and Des seem to think they're staying together! If their relationship were a classic childhood story, it would totally be The Little Engine That Could.
