Original story:

On August 14, 2013, Bachelor Season 14 and Bachelor Pad 1 and 2 star Gia Allemand passed away in New Orleans. The 29-year-old New York native was rushed to the hospital on Monday, August 12, and had been in critical condition with no details released on the cause of her hospitalization.

Gia’s mother and longtime boyfriend, NBA player Ryan Anderson were at her side at University Hospital in New Orleans, along with her pastor and childhood best friend, according to Gia’s close friend Melinda Farina. Gia had been put on life support and friends and family asked for prayers as their loved one struggled to hang on.

At 11:41am, E! News reported that Gina Maria Allemand had been declared brain dead and passed away. No word has been released on what happened to cause Gia’s hospitalization, but the family released a statement in regards to her health. "On behalf of the family, we kindly ask for privacy at this time."

Gia moved to New Orleans a year ago to live with Ryan, who she started seeing in April 2011. "I've been on an emotional roller coaster between The Bachelor and Bachelor Pad, so it's good to find some stability," Gia told Life & Style back in May 2011. "I finally found what I've been looking for." Two years later, TMZ describes the couple as "rocky," reporting that Gia was "extremely upset" about their relationship before her untimely death.

Before meeting Ryan, Gia briefly dated hockey player Chris Campoli and former Yankees pitcher Carl Pavano.

Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and everyone who was touched by her sweet spirit. Rest in peace, Gia.
