It's a well-established fact that diamonds are a girl's best friend, and the ladies of ABC's The Bachelor and The Bachelorette are pretty much BFFs with these sparkly gems. They love diamonds even more than they love red roses, so you can imagine their excitement when Neil Lane and his fleet of workshop elves show up with boxes of engagement rings ripe for the picking. But the best part? ABC pays for the rings out of their own pocket!

The network's bling budget has been steadily increasing for the most part, but the sparkliest gem of the Bachelor / Bachelorette bunch was Emily Maynard's stunner —r a gorgeous rock with a band made up of pave diamonds, which retailed for over $150,000.

“It’s huge,” a source confirmed to Wetpaint Entertainment. “It’s 100 percent the biggest any woman has received on either The Bachelor or Bachelorette.”

Sadly, Emily had to return the ring after splitting up with her fiance, Jef Holm, and ABC has splashed out slightly less on blingtastic engagement rings since her season. The stunning rock that Bachelor 17 Sean Lowe bestowed on his bride-to-be, Catherine Giudici, was a mere $80,000 (child's play compared to Emily's ring), while Bachelorette Desiree Hartsock's ring from fiance Chris Siegfried cost a cool $95,000.

Sigh, remember back in the good ol' days when Bachelor and Bachelorette rings were designed by mere mortals like Chopard and Tacori?

Such innocent times.
