Today is Chris “Grown A-- Man” Bukowski’s 27th birthday, and he’s celebrating in a very unique way.

How, you ask? Is he driving down to Nick Peterson’s Florida home and taking part of the $250K homeskills won with partner Rachel Truehart over Chris and Sarah Newlon on the Bachelor Pad 3 finale? Inviting everyone to his brand new, freshly opened bar, Bracket Room, for lady cocktails? Well, one of those (Yeah, we wish it were numero uno also), but it’s not just about him.

Chris is hosting an event tonight at Bracket Room in memory of Gia Allemand, and using this opportunity to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Take a moment, say your “awws.”

In addition, to the five dollar cover charge straight up going to the National Capital Chapter of the organization, Chris tells us that they will be handing out purple bracelets with “In Memory of Gia” on them, along with event date on the inside. “The bracelets are purple as purple represents suicide prevention awareness. And they glow in the dark!” the birthday boy says.

Not wanting to let the day pass without using his B-day attention for a good reason, Chris also posted a heartfelt message to his friends, family, and fans on his Facebook page:

I am grateful for each and every one of you. As the years have come and gone I've realized what is really important to me. It's not the gifts or the cards but it's the people that are in my life. I'm sure many of you can relate when I say I wish there were some people still around to celebrate this delicate life that has been given to us. Over my 27 years I have lost many friends to suicide. This year I'm asking for all of you to listen to your friends, your family, and your acquaintances. We have the ability to save a life with some simple words. The words I ask you to share are “I love you.”

Though it may go unnoticed I believe those words can absolutely save a life. Recently I've lost a friend who was beautiful, full of life, and beyond compassionate to the people around her. I'm asking all of you, for my "birthday gift" to tell the people in your lives that you love them. This birthday is not going to be about me but about the people that are no longer with us. I ask you to be better listeners and to be more open about your feelings. Without each other this life that we live could not be as good as it is. Join me in action, in words, and in prayer to save a life today.

With a heavy heart I type this message with hope that everyone who reads this can make a difference. If it means a lot or a little to you I mean this from the bottom of my heart that I love you, I care about you, and I appreciate you. The best gift that you can give me this year is to share this message with your friends, your family, and your acquaintances. Because at the end of the day we are nothing without the people associated in our lives. God has given us the ability to save a life today. Join me in saving a life. God bless you all and from the bottom of my heart I mean it when I say, I love you.

Gia is being remembered in many ways today, during National Suicide Prevention Week — on September 10's World Suicide Prevention Day. Today, her mom and Bachelor 14 Jake Pavelka will appear on a (pre-taped) episode of Dr. Phil to talk about her life.

If you’re in the Arlington, Virginia area, you can say your own personal “happy birthday” or “I love you” to Chris and help raise money to prevent suicide. Or you can donate directly to the AFSP in honor of Gia here.

Happy birthday, Chris! (We love you too, pal.)
