Every so often, we need a State of the Union address from Bachelor Nation's reigning couples. The Bachelorette Season 9’s Desiree Hartsock and Chris Siegfried are the newest lovebirds in the nest, and even though we know they are going strong, we still feel compelled to hover near their social media posts like we're checking a love EKG — just to make sure everything is A-OK. Our hearts can't take another breakup!
Thankfully, this couple seems on track to go the distance — even if the distance is just in the general Pacific Northwest area. While Bachelor Sean Lowe has been giving Dallas newbie Catherine Giudici the lay of the land, Chris has been showing Des around his adopted hometown of Seattle. They had some Bachelor Nation couple time with fellow Seattle-area residents Jason and Molly Mesnick, enjoyed Seahawks and Mariners games, and hiked at Discovery Park.
Chrisiree (maybe? We do need a cute name for them. Help.) really love sports and the outdoors, which isn’t exactly a surprise giving their upbringings. Des posted a video of Chris playing dodgeball, showing him kicking butt and taking names, just as he did on Season 9, Episode 3. Des has also been sharing photos of their adventures. On August 26, she posted this outdoorsy pic with friends, writing, “Relaxing weekend in Lake Chelan!@chrisrsiegfried #lovehim #loveSeattle.”
On September 10 she posted another great photo compilation, writing, “Beautiful Seattle evening! @chrisrsiegfried #gasworks #roses #downtown #Lovemyman.” She’s so happy! Chris told his University of Portland newspaper he and Des plan to make future trips to Washington’s Crystal Mountain, and to Whistler in British Columbia.
They travel around a lot, and apparently they’re even adorable in the car — which is good, since they drove 1300 miles from her hometown to Seattle after the finale. In early September, Chris posted a photo of “co-pilot” Des sleeping in the passenger’s seat, and Des also tweeted, “Karaoke in the car right now! Let's just say @ChrisRSiegfriedshouldn't quit his day job. #lovehimanyways;) #great80srockvoice #madonna.”
Aww! Poor Chris. His day job used to be playing baseball, and this very weekend — September 14-15 — Chris and Des are going down to Portland for his alma mater’s alumni weekend. Chris told the UP paper he and Des will just hang out in the area, and then Chris will play an alumni game at 1 p.m. on Saturday. (Let the stalking begin.)
And of course, Chris is all about the poetry. Des has been steadily promoting her man’s poetry book, including this September 11 note: “Good Morning everyone! For all who are asking, you can get your paperback copy of Diamonds and Hearts at http://www.dhpoetry.com Enjoy!” Such a good publicist!
Considering Des' Bachelorette season only ended on August 5, it’s impressive to see how much Chris and Des (Dris? Ches?!) have been able to pack into just over a month. It’s especially great that most of their adventures are fun normal-person activities, not red carpet stuff or TV gigs. That’s a great sign for their future success!
