Did you know that Andi Dorfman had kind of a falling out on The Bachelor Season 18 with Juan Pablo Galavis? Oh, you heard that? Huh. Maybe it was in the replayed and uber-analyzed dramatic exit the Season 10 Bachelorette played out on her Fantasy Suites episode mic drop. Or, perhaps it was in Andi’s promo poster or promo clip that you caught wind of her distaste for El Bachelor.
The caption for the first art of the season said, with no room for misinterpretation, “She’s looking for the right Juan one.” The video clip started out with a montage of Juan Pablo repeating his downfall phrase — “It’s OK” — over and over again. And today, ABC’s official Bachelorette Twitter handle put out an infographic to help fans “get to know our Bachelorette” before the May 19 premiere. Besides her hometown and birthday, it also says “doesn’t like to be told “It’s okay.”
Cue the knee slaps. We get it, she has a history, and she came into our lives thanks to being cast on Juan Pablo’s season. She’s a strong woman who stood up for herself when she thought JPG was being a jerk, she had the most dramatic exit ever, and ABC is trying to pose her as a ballbuster. But is enough enough? Shouldn’t this be the time, less than two weeks out from the premiere, when ABC’s promotion machine starts trying to show the other side of Andi? And no, listing her height and favorite sports (tennis and golf, by the way) is not what we mean.
On the other hand, there is a group of people who only watch The Bachelorette and not The Bachelor who might not know where Andi came from, and may need some info on her place in the franchise. A little reference to her exit should be allowed for the noobs. But we’re there, ABC. We’re pretty sure anything more is just Juan step over the line.
What do you think: should Andi go forth and conquer minus the Juan Pablo references, or are they still funny?
