Original story (May 20, 2014): Michael Jace, star of the FX police drama The Shield, has been detained by cops early Tuesday morning in connection to the fatal shooting of his wife, April Jace. According to a Hyde Park, California ABC affiliate, the shooting took place at 8:30 p.m. Monday night, while their children were home.
TMZ reports that Michael called the police himself shortly after the shooting took place and admitted that he shot his wife, and was later arrested for murder at 3:34 a.m. — but that piece of intel on the case has yet to be confirmed by law enforcement.
Allegedly, a little while after April got home with their children Monday night, the incident took place, and a bit later, Michael called 911 and stayed on the phone until police arrived as the dispatcher instructed. The cause of the dispute is yet to be determined, but according to Variety, it is currently believed to be domestic violence.
While Michael is best known for “The Shield,” he has also played roles in Southland, The Mentalist, and Private Practice.
Not much information about the investigation has been released at this time, but police insist that Michael hasn’t officially been arrested — just detained.
