We don’t know about you, but we’ve had strong feelings about Eric Hill since we first saw his face on Reality Steve’s spoiler site. The explorer from Citrus Heights, California was the first of Andi Dorfman’s 25 guys to be announced, and was without question the handsomest of the bunch. So, you can understand how much anticipation we had for his last episode, on June 2, especially considering the dramatic way he exited. That’s why we’re surprised by how many people tuned in.

This season has been really low on ratings since the beginning, and ABC hasn’t helped Andi out with their scheduling. The 90-minute premiere aired at a weird time, from 9:30-11 p.m. (like Emily Maynard’s Season 8 premiere), and was followed by an episode on Memorial Day, and then an episode on a Sunday… You’d think that the first normal Monday 8-10 p.m. air time would put butts in seats, but it didn’t. At least, not as many in the key demo as we’d expect.

According to preliminary ratings from TVbytheNumbers, the June 2 Episode 4 pulled only a 1.7 rating with a 6 ratings share in the 18-49 demo, which is identical to competing Fox program MasterChef. However, the episode did pull 6.5 million viewers for the tear-filled two hours, up 33 percent from the previous night.

It was a difficult episode to watch, to put it mildly, so we’re still on the fence about the turnout. Considering it’s likely the most exciting episode until the July 28 finale, we’re hopeful that more people will hop on the Rose Train before Andi makes the biggest decision of her life.
