It’s no secret that Andi Dorfman and her remaining band of hotties are heading to Italy next week, as she tells them as much with a toast at the end of Episode 5. But to what exact part of the boot will the band of merry gentlemen head in Episode 6?
The elite eight will start their journey in Venice, which Andi referred to as her “favorite city in the world” — translation, she should be in a great mood and hopefully we’ll be seeing lots of kissing. Nick Viall scores a 1-on-1 with a gondola ride under the Bridge of Sighs, which sounds romantic, huh? Well, brush up on your History Channel, cuz we’re about to blow your world.
The bridge gets its name because it sits over a channel that leads to a prison. Lord Byron or some such whosit gave the bridge it’s name because he figured prisoners would sigh as they passed under it and glimpsed their last look at Venice (and daylight) before being taken down to their cells. We wonder how Nick will be feeling when they pass under it? Maybe he’ll write a poem that’s not really a poem about it.
Thankfully, there is a softer side to the sighing. A local legend says lovers will be granted eternal bliss if they kiss on a gondola at sunset under the bridge as the bells of St. Mark's Campanile toll. Who wants to bet the show’s producers are gonna set that up?
Speaking of prisoners, in this episode Andi treats six of the guys to a group date that involves taking a lie detector test. We’re not sure where in the city this happens, but does it really matter? Nothing says romance like a stroll through an interrogation room. When all the guys pass (we hope), they tour a castle. Again, not sure which one cuz castles in Italy are like Starbucks in the U.S. — there’s one around every corner.
While the rest of the guys stay in Venice, Andi and Cody Sattler head to the fair city of Verona of Romeo and Juliet fame. We’re telling you, this episode is deep. We’re sure they’ll get their Shakespeare on by touring some literary tourist hotspots and whatnot, and our 8th grade English teacher will swoon in her sonnet collection when they visit Juliet’s house (at least, that’s what it looks like in the promo). We’re not sure where else they’ll travel in the city, but it’s a hotbed of culture and history so we’re sure Cody and his v-necks will love it!
Wanna know who makes it out of Italy alive? We’ve got your spoilers here.
