If you’ve been watching Andi Dorfman’s quest for love with the same religious fervor we have, you know by now that one of the Atlantan’s handsome suitors, Eric Hill, passed away shortly after he was dismissed from the show in Episode 4. Andi and her remaining men learned about Eric’s tragic death as they were filming Hometown Dates, and Chris Harrison warns that the upcoming Episode 8 is an emotional one.

Get your tissues ready now, is basically what Chris says in his Entertainment Weekly blog. “Next week is the week where we found out the tragic news that our friend, Eric Hill, had gotten into an accident and had passed away.” If you’ll remember, Andi’s last conversation with Eric was a bit heated, so we can’t imagine that hearing this news will be easy for her.

The host continues, “I will warn you: You will see this play out in our lives. It’s raw and emotional, it very much affected all of us, and that’s exactly why we decided to show it to you.” We’re curious how viewers will react to ABC showing the cast learning of the accident, as audiences seemed to lash out a bit at Andi after Eric’s initial exit.

We can see how focusing on emotional reactions from the cast may veer into sensationalized territory for some viewers — some bloggers have already come out against ABC for the move — but it’s a line producers haven’t had to walk before on this show, so we wish them the best in figuring out how to handle the tragedy tastefully.
