Oh hey, Desiree Hartsock. Andi Dorfman will see your scary judgy brother Nate and raise you one no-nonsense pop, aka Hy Dorfman. That’s right. The man who put Juan Pablo Galavis through his paces during Bachelor 18’s Hometown Dates is back, along with wife Patti, to suss out their daughter’s final two choices, Josh Murray and Nick Viall. And in a new sneak peek of the July 28 finale, it looks like Josh’s nerves may get the better of him!
In the clip, we see right off that bat that even before former pro baseball player Josh arrives, Hy is skeptical of Andi dating another sportsman. “As far as Josh being an athlete, she says it’s different,” he warily comments to the ABC cameras.
Andi’s 29-year-old suitor is admittedly already “very nervous” as he arrives to meet her parental units — little does he know that he’s about to enter the lion’s den.
“Today is a very big day,” Josh notes. “It’s a big deal to get their approval and just get to show them who I am and how much I care for her... You only get one chance to make one first impression and this is it.”
Armed with some gifts and the hopes of getting the Atlanta dad’s permission to propose, Josh looks simultaneously brimming with joy (seriously, those teeth are blinding!) and totally terrified (the sweat!). But while Andi is clearly all starry-eyed for her suitor, Hy isn’t buying his charming act just yet.
“My first impression of Josh when he walked in: He’s trying to be relaxed and calm and cool but he is sweating,” Hy dishes in his ITM interview. “He is so nervous. This guy doesn’t have a prayer.”
Oh dear! Hope he can recover as the night goes on. Everyone knows that a Southern belle takes her daddy’s approval very seriously!
The Bachelorette Season 10 finale airs Monday, July 28, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on ABC.
