It’s no wonder Ali Fedotowsky’s signature color is yellow — she knows how to find a sunny spin on almost everything. Take the fact that she and Roberto Martinez aren’t married yet, a year-and-a-half after they got engaged on The Bachelorette Season 6. She makes a very convincing argument that it’s a good thing.

"Yes, it's a long engagement, but our courtship hasn't been that long. The Bachelorette is a little out of whack. Everything is done backwards. Moving together right away and all that stuff," Ali told OK! Magazine at the OpenSky pop-up gallery launch in NYC.

"The good thing about a long engagement is that at that point you've already committed your life to each other, so there's no game playing. Whereas when you're dating instead of engaged, sometimes little games can be played, like 'Should I text him? Should I bring up kids? But we're only dating — he's only my boyfriend — I don't know if he wants to spend his life with me.'"

Since Ali and Roberto fast-forwarded through the dating process, they don’t have to be afraid to ask each other the tough questions and spend this time working things through before walking down the aisle. Makes sense from here!
