Jef Holm may have won Emily Maynard’s hand in marriage, but plenty of hearts are still throbbing all across America over Bachelorette runner-up Arie Luyendyk, Jr. Dashing, confident, and just a tad cocky when we met him, he opened up as the season progressed to reveal a softer, romantic, more sensitive side. And, even though he wasn’t Emily’s top pick, he established himself as a serious catch by the show’s finale.
Since the live airing of ‘After the Final Rose,’ when Arie admitted he had been so torn up about his split from Emily, he traveled to her hometown after filming ended in an attempt to see her (he had a change of heart upon arrival, opting to leave his journal on her doorstep instead), he’s moved on just fine. Opening up to Wetpaint Entertainment, he looks back on the crazy season…and talks about the possibility of becoming the next Bachelor!
Looking back, if you could do anything differently either on or after the show, what would it be?
I can honestly say I was 100% myself and I would not have changed a thing. I was really grateful for the experience and I was so lucky to have had a connection with Emily. It made my time on the show very enjoyable. It was a wild ride.
What did doing the show teach you about yourself...and about what you're looking for in a woman?
Being on the show was really good for me. You spend a lot of time self-reflecting and I feel like now, more than ever, I know the type of woman I want to end up with one day. As far as a future partner goes, I can honestly say a witty, smart, and playful attitude is what attracts me.
Can you share anything that was in your journal about Emily or about the experience overall?
The journal was definitely a healthy outlet for me, but it will be for my eyes only. Sorry!
Will you go to Jef and Emily's wedding when the time comes?
Of course! I wish Em and Jef the very best and if I was asked to be at their wedding, I wouldn't miss it for the world. I am so happy for them and knowing both of them so well, I can see they are really meant for eachother.
We're getting a lot of comments from readers saying they want YOU to be the next Bachelor. Would you consider it?
I went into the Bachelorette with zero expectations and I found love. It was very hard to move forward, but I still hold the same hope in my heart that someone out there will, someday, be the perfect fit.
It would be a very tough decision to open myself up again like that, but I do know I’m ready to find someone. You never know!
