Given the number of broken hearts Bachelor Pad usually leaves in its wake, it’s rare to see a former couple turn their brief TV romance into an actual, you know, mature friendship. But that’s exactly what happened with former partners Graham Bunn and Michelle Money. Although they haven’t been an item since the show (both are now happily involved with other people in their respective hometowns), they’ve nevertheless developed a strong and meaningful bond.
Michelle proved that by flying all the way from Utah to NYC this past weekend for the second time to make it to the annual charity event Graham organizes: Alex’s Lemonade Stand benefiting pediatric cancer patients. We chatted with Michelle about what her Graham means to her…and why she’ll always be there for him.
Wetpaint Entertainment: You flew all the way from Utah. That makes you the person who traveled the farthest to get here…
Michelle: I would never miss one of Graham’s events if my life depended on it. He’s been one of the biggest male supporters I’ve ever had. And it’s an honor to be here, to see everyone come together to do good.
You lost your dad to cancer. Does this event strike close to home?
Yes. This charity in particular is dear to my heart. I came to this event for the first time last year. Graham and I had just finished Bachelor Pad and I had just lost my dad to colon cancer. I can’t even believe it’s been a year now.
When I came last year, I got to the lemonade stand only to see that Graham had had a special t-shirt and wristband designed to honor my dad. It was meant so much to me and it was just such an amazing reminder of the things people can do when they have a platform. Graham is such a great example of that.
So even though you two aren’t together anymore, there’s still a really strong friendship?
Oh my god, yeah. Graham came into my life for so many reasons, but especially to show me how important it is to serve others and to give back. I cherish him for that.
