When Southern Barbie plays dress up, she means it. Emily Maynard always looks gorgeous — dressed up or down — but it's not like The Bachelorette Season 8 just went to Target to get her clothes. Cookie baking and other low-budget stuff is for the boys. For Emily, there was a $350,000 (!) wardrobe budget.

“We had an enormous clothing budget,” the show's stylist, Cary Fetman, tells In Touch. “It was bigger than any previous season — and we still went over!” For example, in one episode, Em wore $1,045 Christian Louboutin Straratata heels and a $40,000 nude Randi Rahm gown. She doesn't like jeans and hates flats, Cary says. “She loves to be a girlie girl. She loves dresses and anything glitzy and sparkly.”

Season 5 Bachelorette Jillian Harris, a major fashionista herself, is not a fan of Em’s the pricey wardrobe. Jilly posted a "Step It Up" fashion blog on her website, sounding off on Season 8 fashion. "One thing I have noticed about The Bachelorette so far is the not-so-awesome style!” Jillian writes. “I have not been super impressed by the outfits Emily is rocking, which is strange because I normally LOVE Emily’s style." She then posted examples of how she'd change Emily’s looks. Check it out here.

Even if you love Em's clothes, they can't do this every season for every girl. They'd go broke. Maybe next time they should partner with Project Runway and have the designers create gowns for the Season 9 Bachelorette based on household products found around the mansion. Make it work!
