Maybe we should go easier on Bachelor and Bachelorette contestants, considering how many of them have their names submitted to the casting department by a friend or family member. It’s almost never their idea to go on the show. (Or so they claim... )
In this twisted tradition, Blake Julian’s sister, Bailey Klemz, got him cast on The Bachelorette Season 7. Blake is a dentist, like Bachelorette Ashley Hebert, and he currently lives in Greenville, South Carolina.
Blake and Bailey spoke with local Greenville media about getting 27-year-old Blake on The Bachelorette, a show he had only seen once or twice before. Bailey is a longtime fan, but when she mentioned to Blake that he should go on the show, he wasn’t interested. That didn’t stop her.
“So one night when I was bored and the commercial came on advertising how to go online and enter a contestant, I stole a couple of photos from his Facebook page and sent them in, never thinking he’d really make it,” Bailey said. (Gee, thanks, sis!)
Months went by until Bailey got a call from an ABC producer. She had never told her brother she entered his name — so why did he finally agree to do it?
“I never planned on going on the show. I decided to participate because I thought it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience,” Blake said. “I figured if I were lucky, I’d get to travel, and if I were really lucky, I’d meet the woman of my dreams.”
However, Blake also told his local press this: “The timing was right for me, so everything worked out, but it’s tough to say if I’d do it all again. In the future, taking time off probably won’t be an option.”
Does that sound like a man in love? By the way, why is he talking to the press before the show even airs? Did ABC approve this?
Anyway, according to The Journal Watchdog, Blake is originally from Steamboat Springs, Colorado, but moved to South Carolina in part because he loves golf. He graduated from the University of Kansas with a degree in human biology and went on to the University of Missouri-Kansas City School of Dentistry.
Ashley is set to graduate from the University of Pennsylvania School of Dental Medicine in May with a 3.96 GPA and the degree of DMD, Doctor of Dental Medicine. Clever girl, our Ashley!
Is it too cutesy to hope two (very attractive) dentists can fall in love, bonding over bicuspids?
