You would think, after 24 combined seasons of The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, that Chris Harrison would avoid roses like the plague during his spare time. Nevertheless, the adorable host recently presided over a rose ceremony of a different sort at the Palazzo Hotel in Las Vegas.

The ceremony was a christening for the Palazzo rose, a new breed of roses that will be featured exclusively at the Palazzo for the next year. Apparently, the traditional way to christen a new rose is by dousing the blooms with champagne like a girl in a rap video. (JK — it’s much classier than that.)

According to the Palazzo’s Twitter account, it takes about five years to develop a new rose breed, so this is definitely a momentous occasion for the hotel. “The Palazzo rose is characterized by its deep red color and high petal count,” their Twitter rep boasts.  Pretty gorgeous, right? (We’re talking about Chris, obvs, but the roses are nice, too!)
