Who can forget Nate Hartsock — the cut-to-the-chase, uber-protective brother of Bachelor Season 17 contestant Desiree Hartsock? Although Des was head over heels for Sean Lowe, Nate wasn’t convinced Sean was the man meant to marry his only sister. And while Nate caught flack for giving Sean a piece of his mind, in the end, it turns out he was right. Sean and Desiree weren’t a perfect match after all.

And now that it’s been announced that Desiree’s landed the plum job of being the next Bachelorette for Season 9, Nate’s more protective than ever.

“I’m happy for her,” he exclusively tells Wetpaint Entertainment. “But it’s bittersweet. This is going to be good for her in the sense that the world will get to know her and she’s going to have opportunities that she’s never had before. In the meantime, though, I’m concerned for her well-being. She’s a real emotional girl and this process seems tough.”

For her part, Desiree seems up to the task. “I can handle them,” she told Chris Harrison of her 25 soon-to-be suitors. Still, we really hope Nate will make a cameo or two. We think he’s just the guy to help his sister pick the right guy — and shake things up while he’s at it. Bring it, Nate!
