If you recall back to the finale of this past season of The Bachelorette, Arie Luyendyk, Jr. seemed pretty blindsided at his dumping... and it turns out there’s possibly a good reason for that.

A show insider tells Radar Online that producers routinely use misdirection to get the reaction they want from show contestants. So, according to the insider, during the finale of The Bachelorette Season 8, winner Jef Holm had someone in his ear telling him Emily Maynard was going to choose Arie — while Arie was fed lines about how Emily was definitely going to pick him. Apparently, they’re not the only contestants to be given the runaround.

"This is done every season on The Bachelor and The Bachelorette. Producers always tell the contestant who is going to be chosen that they are going to be rejected and vice versa," the show insider explains.

"’Producers know in advance who is going to be chosen of the final two, and they feel that this is the best way to get an extremely emotional exchange on camera that makes for amazing television.’”

The way some bachelors and bachelorettes play with their suitors’ emotions, you’d think they wouldn’t need help from show producers to create drama!
