Being a southern belle and a busy mom on the go, Emily Maynard doesn’t have time to waste on beauty products that don’t work. Which is why she’s sings the praises of Benefit’s “They’re Real” mascara, which promises to make eyes pop like never before. Emily’s such a fan, she traveled all the way to New York with fiancé Jef Holm in tow, to host Benefit’s “Beauty Best…Or Bust” event during Fashion’s Night Out on September 6.
While there, The Bachelorette Season 8 star dished with Wetpaint Entertainment on her top beauty secrets. As it turns out, Jef has one too!
Wetpaint Entertainment: Is this your first Fashion Week?
Emily: It is! It’s my first Fashion Week and I’m so grateful to be here.
What do you love Benefit so much?
Emily: I think it’s such a fun brand. They make great product and the packaging is cute. It doesn’t take itself so seriously.
What’s your favorite product?
Emily: Definitely “They’re Real.” It’s like the holy grail of mascara. Every girl is always looking for a mascara that doesn’t end up all over your face by the end of the day. For me, this is it. I think it’s perfect.
Do you have a beauty secret?
Emily: I would say my number one secret is my lashes. If you do your lashes, you look awake and put together even if you’ve only gotten a couple hours of sleep the night before.
Is that something you need to work around often, working on little to no sleep?
Emily: Well Ricki’s usually up before the sun. So I get up with her and then fight her over what she’s going to wear that day. No, I’m kidding. It’s fun. I love having Jef there. But he would always ask me before, “Why are you going to bed so early?” He was always going out and doing something fun with his friends and he didn’t understand why I was going to sleep so early. Now, he gets it. Being a mom is exhausting!
Jef: It’s true. Now I’m the one saying, I gotta go. I gotta get to bed.
Ha! That’s funny.
Jef: Hey, I have a beauty secret.
You do? What is it?
Jef: Do whatever Emily does.
Aw. Emily, you’ve got him trained good!
Emily: I know, right? I’m a lucky girl.
